我校高二学生鲁千艺与美国河谷学校交换生Marti Gendel的对话

        美国河谷学校是我校的友好姐妹学校，两校间交往密切良好。2015年两校互动往来频繁，10月期间，我校由16人组成的代表团赴美国河谷学校进行为期9天的修学活动。鲁千艺就是其中一位，游学期间她的住家伙伴Marti Gendel对她进行了如下的采访。

Interview with a Chinese Exchange Student

1: If you could use one word to describe New York what would it be?
1: Lively
1: 你能不能用一个词形容纽约？
1: 充满活力
 
2:Why did you decide to participate in this exchange program?
2: I have been to New York before but I wanted to come again to see what the school life was like here.
 
2: 为什么你想参加这个交换项目？
2: 我曾经来过纽约，这次来我是想体验一下美国的学校生活是怎样的。
 
3: How would you describe Riverdale?
3: It is very beautiful, the students are all very friendly, and the lessons are very interesting. Overall, the school life is very colorful
 
3: 你如何评价河谷中学？
3: 河谷中学很漂亮，学生们都非常友好，课程也很有趣，学校生活非常多姿多彩。
 
4: What are the biggest differences between New York City and your home town, Suzhuo?
4:Suzhou is much quieter compared to New York City. I have noticed that New York City is very loud and busy. In terms of the culture people generally seem much more outgoing in NYC. A comparison that could be made is that New York City is like coffee, while Suzhou is like tea.
 
4:苏州和纽约最大的不同是什么？
4: 苏州更安静，有一种苏州的风格。纽约有一种纽约文化。这里纽约的人和动物和谐相处。纽约更像是咖啡，快生活，苏州更像是茶，一切慢慢来。
 
5: What is similar about New York City and your home town, Suzhuo?
5: In both places there are a lot people, a lot of tourists, and a lot of important landmarks.
 
5: 苏州和纽约有哪些相同点？
5: 很多人，很热闹，有很多很出名的地方。
 
6: What are the biggest differences between Riverdale Country School and your school in Suzhou?
6: The Riverdale Country School campus is much bigger compared to Suzhou No. 6 Senior Highschool. Riverdale also has more subjects, and the classes are more active. At our school we stay in one classroom all day, and we just sit listen to the teacher. If we have a question we have to wait until the end of class to ask the teacher. Here I noticed that the students have a different classroom for each of their subjects, and each student actively participates in class. The students at Riverdale have more free time where they can go to the library, cafeteria, or wherever. At my school we do not have that freedom. In addition, the students at Riverdale take a bus home each day, but in Suzhou we live in the school.
 
6: 河谷中学和你在苏州的学校有什么不同？
6: 河谷中学很大，有很多我们没有的课程，课程比我们多，上课更加活跃，每个人都在努力思考，一天只有6节课，时间安排更自由。学生经常坐校车回家，苏州六中大多是住校。他们可以自己选择感兴趣的课程，我们不可以。他们上课需要他们跑到各个教室，而我们往往是一个教室坐一天。两个学校风格也不一样。
 
7: What is similar about Riverdale Country School and your school in Suzhuo?
7: Both of them have a focus on the student’s hobbies, and the provide lots of opportunities for students to peruse what they are interested in.
 
7: 河谷中学和你在苏州的学校有哪些相同点？
7: 都更重视学生的兴趣，给学生提供了很多机会。老师都很友好，校园都很优美。
 
8: What was one new thing that your tried in New York City. Did you like it?
8: Something new I tried was taking a school bus. In China I don’t take one because I live at school and if I am home my mom drives me to home. I liked going the bus because I got to meet Marti’s friends, read, listen to music, and relax.
 
8: 什么事情是你在纽约第一次做的，你喜欢它吗？
8: 坐校车，中国很少有学校有校车，我没有坐过中国的校车。喜欢它因为不需要妈妈早起接送我们，不需要担心堵车。在校车上我们可以休息，看书，听音乐，做自己想做的事情。
 
9: Did you enjoy the food here? What was the best thing you ate?
9: Of course! I think the food made by my host family was all very delicious! I especially like the chicken, fish, and omelette was the best thing I ate! I think the chicken made by my host mother was better than KFC.
 
9: 你喜欢这边的食物吗？你觉得什么是最好吃的？
9: 喜欢。我觉得在Marti家吃的几顿是最好吃的，像鱼，鸡，煎蛋卷，都非常棒，Marti妈妈的鸡做的比肯德基的都好。
 
10: Are there differences or similarities in how people dress?
10: The clothes that people wear in New York City is much more modern. It seems to me that there clothes are more open and are made with less fabric. A similarity I observed was that there are some brands that are popular in America and China. For example, Converse, Vans, Adidas, New Balance, and Swatch.
 
10: 在人们的穿着上有什么不同点或相同点吗？
10: 纽约人的穿着更开放和时尚，而且纽约人穿的很少。相同点是很多品牌在中国和纽约都会很流行，比如匡威，万斯，阿迪达斯，新百伦和斯沃琪。
 
11: What are the similarities and differences in family life?
11: My host family’s mother encourages her daughter to try lots of new things. My mother seems stricter and does not give the same freedom. Both my host family mother and my mother, however, care a lot about their daughters, and they will for example, wake up early every morning to make breakfast. My host family has two kids, but because of the only child policy, I don’t have any siblings. I also see a lot similarities between the fathers. Both have a good sense of humor and work hard.
 
11: 家庭生活上有什么不同点和相同点吗？
11: Marti的妈妈会让她尝试更多的新鲜事物，让她自由安排自己的时间，不用上补习班。有更多的时间陪Marti，但是毕竟天下的妈妈都是一样的，她的妈妈也会早起为她做早饭，做很多家务。但是在中国，我出生的时候还是独生子女的政策，但是Marti有一个姐姐，我很羡慕她。我们的父亲都很好，都有着很好的幽默感。
 
12: Do you wish to come back soon?
12: Of course I want to come to New York City again. I really enjoyed the school life and the environment, and if it is possible I would love to return.
 
12: 你还想来纽约吗？
12: 当然想，我很喜欢这里的学校氛围和环境，有空还会再来。
